Bedford Borough Services

 

These services are provided by Tibbs Dementia Foundation:

Support 4 Memory  – six-week course for people with mild dementia and carers
The next session runs on Wednesdays at the London Road Surgery, London Road, Bedford, from 10.45-1.15pm: 10th Jan - 14th Feb and 28th Feb - 4th April 2018

Clear Voices  – weekly groups for people living with mild to moderate dementia

Activitea  – weekly groups for people living with moderate to advanced dementia

Cognitive Stimulation  – 12-week programme for people living with dementia

Encompass  – fortnightly peer groups for carers

Multi-week courses for carers.

The Live Well with Dementia programme

A programme that aims to help people living with early stage dementia develop the understanding, skills and practical tools, to empower and support them to take an active role in the management of their own health and well-being.

The next Living Well with Dementia programme will be for seven consecutive weeks on Friday 19th and 26th Jan and 2nd, 9th, and 16th Feb and 2nd March - between 10.00am - 12.00pm at St Andrews Rooms, St Andrews Street, Biggleswade SG18 8BA. To book a place, please call the Alzheimer’s Society on 01234 327380. 

Activity Groups

The Alzheimer’s Society Activity Groups for people living with dementia and their carers. Each group has a theme and gives confidence as well as the chance to chat to others. 

  • Leighton Buzzard - Comedy: 10.30am Tuesdays, fortnightly, starts 9th January, Astral Park Community Centre
  • Biggleswade - Music: 10.30am Wednesdays, fortnightly, starts 17th January, Trinity Methodist Church
  • Dunstable- Music: 10.30am, Thursdays, fortnightly, starts 11th January, Salvation Army Hall
  • Dunstable - Oomph: 10.30am Thursdays fortnightly, starts 4th January, St Augustines Church

  • Young Onset Activity Group - Shefford: 10.30am, third Weds of the month, starts 24th January, Aragon Housing Association

  • Dunstable - 11.30 - 12.30pm, first Thursday of month, St Augustine's Church, Oakwood Avenue, LU5 4AR, starting 4th January. This runs alongise the Alzheimer's Society Oomph group
  • Henlow - 10.30 - 12.30pm, third Friday, Community Room, Henlow Gardens, SG16 6DG

  • Cognitive Stimulation Therapy - 11 - 12pm every Monday, St Georges Court, St Georges Close, LU7 1BF. For people with dementia. Started 20th November, runs for 14 weeks
